LEARNING TO FLY: FIRST LOVE YOURSELF

IMG_6702.JPG

2016 was a roller coaster, but I knew I had to make 2017 one for the books. Half way through this new year, and I've already absorbed so much. For years, I've been on this constant battle with receiving support from the people I loved. It can really break you down if you let it get to that point. After a while, you find out who's genuinely there for you and who's not. I've been my own biggest critic, but I learned to also be my own hype woman.

There's a couple of things that I keep in mind about self love:

1. DON'T BE HARD ON YOURSELF -

This is EXTREMELY hard for me to overcome, but I'm working on it. Like I mentioned earlier, we are our own biggest critic. We all have our moments of perfectionism that raises our expectations. Sometimes we just have to step back and take a look at the bigger picture. Set your OWN expectations, not the ones other's made for you.

2. STOP EXCESSIVELY COMPARING

A little healthy competition won't hurt any body. In fact, it can push you more. However, if we constantly compare our image, lifestyle, financial positions with what is shown in social media, then we'll never be happy. I've caught myself scrolling through feeds envying other people's lives rather than living my own life.

3. QUIT complaining if you aren't going to do anything to make it better

I really despise people who complain all day, but don't have any intentions of changing their circumstances. Just FYI, this includes myself. For years, I've been complaining about where I am at life and how I hate corporate life. It's difficult to put energy into both my careers, but I learned in 2017 that it was ultimately up to me to get out of my comfort zone.

4. MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF

Millennials are busier than ever. Think about how many people you know who have more than one hustle. It's important to make time to care for YOURSELF. Pamper yourself because how can you take care of everything else but not take care of yourself first? Take a moment to meditate, unplug, or even paint your nails or do a  You'll feel exhausted over time, but once spending time on yourself can really rejuvenate the soul.

"OF ALL THE PEOPLE ON THE PLANET, YOU TALK TO YOURSELF MORE THAN ANYONE. MAKE SURE YOU ARE SAYING THE RIGHT THINGS."

I really am all about making big moves on the down low, so I'd rather not say much about what I've been up to. You guys will see big changes  in my life soon. I just have to practice what I preach, and I know I'll get there! Till then, keep it positive FAM! <3
